ClearGrip Treads: A

ClearGrip Treads provide excellent traction in the bathroom, while allowing the natural beauty of sealed concrete, natural stone, wood floor, or ceramic tile to shine through.

The non-slip vinyl treads are applied with an adhesive backing that causes the application process to be easy and effortless. This backing is strong enough to keep the treads securely in place, but that also can be removed in the future if desired. ClearGrip Treads come in several sizes including 6″ x 12″, 6″ x 24″ and 4″ circle sizes. Of course, the vinyl treads can also be trimmed to a custom size if desired.

ClearGrip Treads and tape can be used on virtually any bathroom surface including bathtubs and showers.

ClearGrip products maintenance is simple. They can be wiped down or mopped with soap and water with ease.

The ClearGrip Treads are expected to last for 3 to 5 years, depending on the foot traffic.

It’s important to remember that the darker the color of the floor, the more visible the ClearGrip products will be. On dark stone or tile, the vinyl tread is noticeable, but on lightly colored floors the tread is nearly invisible.

Bath Mats or Rugs: B-

An effective, and temporary way to increase the traction in areas of your bathroom floor would be area rugs or fabric or rubber bathmats. Either cloth backed or rubber backed bathmats are certainly safer than a wet tile floor, but they do have their problems.

Bathmats can also be a potential source of trips and falls if one were to catch their foot on the edge.  This is why it’s extremely important that rubber mats have a beveled edge to reduce the chance of catching a toe.  In the bathroom, fabric mats must simply be used with care.

No installation is required with mats as they can be laid down in the area where you need the extra traction.

Depending upon quality and thickness of the fabric or rubber mat material you can expect the mat to last for 2 to 4 years.
